Accio Con 09:

Wednesday:
Here we are with the inaugural Acciocon 2009 Pre - con report. I mean after all its only 9 AM and my flight doesn't take off until 11:30, and honestly I have nothing better to do.
Going through airport security is always hit or miss with me. I either get searched or I don't (which I know is the same for everyone, but I have a built in “red flag”). For the last couple of trips it hasn’t happened, so I decided not to bring along the x-ray of my ankle. Why, you ask? For those not in the know, I shattered my ankle in high school playing hockey and had pins put in. And guess what likes to set off airport security. Yup, sad panda - I got searched. It beeped on my ankle and I got the same look I always get of "WTF?" Off came the socks to reveal the rather nasty scar from where the pins were inserted.
I finally get past all that, and I took notice the wall plugs are few and very far between. My gate is C2, but I am currently stationed at C1 since there is no one here, and the flight to Oakland that is before mine is packed to guild.
After scouting out the area, the demon in my tummy decided to make its presence known. Sadly it thought the Pizza Hut looked like prime rib. Luckily my phone rang and its mom for the tummy derailing, which is good. While talking to he I wandered around and passed the "D" gates. Fun times. That’s the area where I had met up with Kevin (my charge at Acciocon) for his layover to L.A. where I’m sure he thought I was psycho from all my babbling. What can I say, I was nervous, but don’t ask me why.
Continuing on, mom says it looks angry in Payson. w00t! Cooler weather on the horizon! Oh! look STARBUCKS!!! I’m saved! I scooch over to the line and grab a yogurt thingie and caramel apple spice. Yum... all is right in the world. At least in this moment it is.
So now I’ll sit here for the next 2.5 hours and try to finish up the drawing of Pell. I am VERY surprised that my art tin made it through the checkpoint. Bastards. Lets pointy objects through but throw a fit over a permanent pin in the ankle. meh.
More updates to come. This is going to be a blast!!!!!!!
Wednesday Part II:
When I landed in Florida and walked to the tarmac, all I could think of was, "Eww, I’m sticky". I forgot how nasty the humidity was. I wanted to turn around right then and go back home. lols. After that internal debate I went to go get my luggage and wait for Alley to come claim me.
Not only did Alley come get me but she also had said charge Kevin and another member of the Security/Liaisons Jennie. Awesome sauce! As we headed back, Alley stopped by at Mickey D’s to pick up a “dinner of champions” for the guests and staff who arrived early. The guy at the drive through window had to verify a couple of times that yes indeed we wanted 25…yes TWO FIVE cheeseburgers to go. No, its not an April Fools joke. We all had a good laugh over that.
Get checked into the hotel, did some running around to get some things, and then lights out early as my first duty as Kevin’s liaison was to escort him to Epcot Center.
Thursday:
Morning came all too quickly. Didn't sleep really well due to the time change. After a quick meeting in con ops it was off to Epcot. I will have to say it was a really good time. Its like the "Its a small world" ride - just life-size.
I have to say I felt bad for Kevin. I made him starve until we made a full circut to visit all of the countries. He kept asking if I was hungry for lunch every time we would check out a new country as they all had restaurants. I should mention that I was REALLY bummed in “Mexico” when my camera became crack tack lunar and wouldn't take a good pic of the Mayan temple to save my life. Trust me I took a bunch of shots too.
As the day went on, he would make a beeline for the restaurant menus and say, “Oh look at this, I love this type of food lets eat here PLEASE!!!” I finally took pity on him once we hit the British Isles area, which happened to be the LAST country you hit if you walk Epcot clockwise. We eyeballed the pub/restaurant and went up to get a table, only to discover that they didn’t open for another 45 minutes. Kevin was not going to have any it, and found a candy shop, where he forced me to try two of his favorite candies apparently from his Ireland days (he’s an Irish citizen or something) One was called Crunchie and the other Cadbury Flake. He went into this cute story about them and how he loved them as a kid visiting Ireland, and I have to admit they were quite good.
We headed back to the pub at our appointed time where the food was positively orgasmic. We ordered the Steak and Fish - 6oz mouthwatering joygasmic piece of the yummyest steak I have had in a long time, a fillet of Cod fish (Which was also amazing. I haven't had fresh fish since god knows when), green beanies, and mashed taters. The menu said it also came with a beer of some sorts but I opted out for my Diet Coke while Kevin had an iced tea with *Gag* Splenda. We somehow dragged ourselves away, stuffed to the brim, and grab some ice cream before we were picked up by Jennie and brought back to the hotel. A long day, but full of fun and Kevin was really cool to just hang out with. And can I just say the Little Nemo Clam ride will be one that I will remember for a LONG time. SO CUTE!!!
Overall it was a nice intro to Disneyworld. As I mentioned, there were some rides but no coasters. The company was also great. If it had been a group of kids or someone else I'm pretty sure I would have drowned them at some point, but Kevin is a really great guy (so how is he single?!?!)
I have pics that will show the trip around the world (so to speak). Pics HERE
Back to the hotel around 10 where I had myself a day old cheeseburger in Alley’s room. Most con’s make me forget proper eating habits. I left Kevin to his own devices since he had script writing or something like that. Then I passed out until morning.
Friday:
Opening day of Con W00t!!!!! Get up at 5 am to hit the gym, go back to take a shower and get dressed.
Day 1 Cosplay: MSA Camo. Turns out Kellen Lutz is a fanboy of anime and so was his agents. Good times.
The day was crazy with photo ops, fussy Twilight Parents, and hysterical fan girls. And I thought fan girls were crazy around Travis. Kellen was extremely patient and very lively with all the photo ops. He took the time to make sure everyone got a really good pic. It was awesome.
Sometime during the day I was stopped by a cosplayer dressed as Remus Lupin. He swore he knew me from somewhere. Yeah right, I so don't think so. But it turns out he was the assistant to the photographer for Phoenix Comicon. Good times Corey! Can't believe he is OVER 40. He is SO hot.
I have to give special props to the photography team Courtney and her Puerto Rican boyfriend (I forgot his name >.<) They were such a blast all weekend and they took amazing photos of everyone. They were also kind enough to give me all of my photos they took for test shots and whatnots.
After first-day panels, crazy Twilight fans, and psycho Twilight moms, it was finally time to
get ready for the red carpet event, Fork’s High School Prom, AND race to the airport, in prom dress mind you, to pick up Allyson. I had to walk Kevin down the “red carpet” aka red plastic table coverings to be introduced at the opening ceremonies. He got a nice hello, but once Gil and Kellen entered, it turned into a madhouse.
After opening ceremonies it was time to throw on my security shirt to cover the over flowing cleavage (thanks corset!) and go pick up Allyson. It was so good to see someone from home. Flying out of state to a convention where you only know your guest and the convention director can be a little overwhelming, even for someone as headstrong as myself. A familiar face can do, and thankfully did, wonders.
Allyson got squared away in her room, we both put on our prom attire, and went to find Kevin. He wore this really cool long velvet/vest that a friend of his made for a ren fair; he was quite dashing in it I must say. Then we all headed on down to check out the scene. I took a look around and was happy that the balloon chain that I made earlier in the day was still up and functioning since their was some questionability on their stability.
For Allyson and myself this really wasn't our cup of tea and, quite frankly, we were starving. We left Kevin to his own devices (he got cornered by some woman apparently to talk the voice biz) and headed back to our room. After a quick change into civvies, we were off to Chili's for food. We stuffed ourselves silly, came back to make sure Kevin was ok, but he was nowhere to be found. After that it was pass out time until morning.
Saturday:
Cosplay for the day: Lolita.
A day filled with more photo shoots, autograph session, flexing of the security muscles, and my awesome loud voice. I was also able to get my pic taken with the Kellen in the Lolita outfit, YAY!!!
Kevin’s panel for "Hey Kids! Its Voice Over Time" had a really small but enthusiastic crowd. Since there wasn't anything big scheduled until an hour after it was supposed to be over, I let him go half an hour OVER the scheduled time, but I don’t think anyone minded. It was very informative and he even let everyone record their own “commercial” to e-mail everyone who stepped up in front of the mic. I don’t know if he does that all the time, but it was totally awesome. No I didn't participate. I was all plugged up, so no asking for copies of my recording cause it doesn’t exist.
Here are the Files from the Panel.

Left Kevin to his own devices again for a while to handle security and rounds. Then
changed into the MSA Formal for the MSA Panel... that had 2 peeps show up, not including Kevin. Did a brief run down and then it was off to forge for food. I was STARVING. Kevin, Allyson and I went to Chili’s where it seemed once again Kevin was on mission to instigate a heart attack getting yet another steak. He seemed a little “out of it” due to a deadline to finish a script, so we headed back pretty quick. He needed some headache medicine so I sent him off in the direction I THOUGHT I had seen a Walgreen’s. Sadly, 45 minutes after Allyson and I had gotten back to the hotel I still hadn’t heard from him and got a little worried. I’ve never lost a charge and I wasn’t going to let him be the first. I texted him, and thankfully he responded right away. He was a little upset as I had sent him in the opposite direction of where the Walgreen’s really was, and he only realized that after working four blocks. Oops.
I felt lucky when he gave me a little glimpse in the script writing process for a show he was working on (actually he had been working on it a lot ever since he arrived) which I have to say was pretty interesting. Can’t say too much more than that, but I hung out for a bit then went off to my room to crash. Good day.
Sunday:
Cosplay for the day: AccioCon security shirt. Lolls
Bags are packed. Allyson and I have to leave right 2pm giving us just enough time for Kevin's Q&A session. There was an autograph signing at the same time, so it was once again a small crowd – basically myself, two other people, and Twilighters Anonymous , who recorded
some of it for their blogs. Again, Kevin proved himself to be a very cool guy and I wish more people had take the opportunity to meet him.
As they say, all things come to an end. It was time to say goodbye and head out to the airport. Most of the flight back home was spent editing pics from the celeb photo shoots and Disneyland until my laptop said no more battery.
Sean picked me up in the smexy black BMW, and quickly gave into my demands to go to Chipotle. (I had been craving this for a LONG while.) We got home around 11 PM and promptly passed out to go to work the next day.
For a first time con and a new charge, it was a good time. Thus concludes the report for AccioCon 2009.
